Caper Tapenade Bread Dipping In Olive Oil

Capers served on bread are called Tapenade, which is also great when adding tuna and mustard. When served on bread, it can also be used for bread dipping in olive oil.

 

  • Five tablespoons capers
  • Six tablespoons drizzled extra virgin olive oil
  • Six ounces black olives, preferably the shriveled
  • Two teaspoons brandy
  • Two anchovy fillets from a can
  • Pinch of thyme or oregano
  • One tablespoons lemon juice
  • One clove of garlic
  • Cracked pepper

 

Wash the capers and peel the garlic. Except for the olive oil, put all the ingredients including the olives in a blender at high speed for one full minute. With the machine running, lower the speed and slowly pour in the olive oil. Serve on bread slices and can use for bread dipping. It can also be added to pasta instead of bread if you wish.

Recipe For Bread, Olive Oil, And Tomato Bread Dip

One crusty loaf of flavored bread
Extra virgin olive oil
Two juicy ripe tomatoes
Two garlic cloves
Four slices of cured ham

Peel and mash the cloves of garlic. Slice the loaf into 8 pieces over one inch thick and toast both sides of the slices. Rub the slices with garlic. Rinse the tomatoes, then slice them in half and use to wipe the bread. Layer the ham slices on the bread. Drizzle olive oil in a dipping dish and use to dip the bread in.

Have you ever eaten at those Italian restaurants and they bring you out this wonderful bread with a delightful dipping oil to dip your bread into? What about on the finest bread dipping dish? Well I have created a very simple fantastic recipe you can make yourself at home that tastes just as great.

In a small pouring container you will need to combine a 1/2 cup of extra virgin olive oil. Add a 1/2 tsp of oregano, a 1/2 tsp of basil, and 1/8 cup of finely chopped fresh garlic. You may either use fresh or bottled spices for this recipe.

Make Your Own Bread Dipping Dish Restaurant Style Appetizer

 Pour all of the ingredients into an olive oil cruet and cover and shake it until the oil and spices have mixed together well. Be sure to shake it again just before serving.

 Serve on bread dipping dish with your favorite warm bread like French bread or Italian rolls. Top the dipping oil with parmesan cheese.

There are so many other breads that you can use for bread dipping. You can also cook with olive oil in the pan for almost anything. You can have a cake pan greased in olive oil for your Birthday cake!

Italian Focaccia Bread Used For Bread Dipping In Olive Oil

Here is a how-to for making a rustic focaccia bread, one with a nice, springy crumb and golden crust.

Herbed Focaccia You Can Make The Easy Way

  • 3 1/4 C flour, all purpose
  • 1 packet Fleischmann’s Rapid Rise Yeast
  • 1 T sugar
  • 1 T salt
  • ¼ C extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 2/3 C warm water (120-130 degrees)
  • 2 T Parmesan cheese, fresh shredded
  • 1 T herb seasoning, Italian

Method:

Combine un-dissolved yeast, sugar, salt and flour in a large bowl. Stir in 2T of olive oil and water until everything is blended together. Use a 9×13” baking pan and spread dough out to completely cover it.

It will take about 30 minutes for the dough to rise to double it size. Use your wooden spoon to put holes in top of dough and then take remaining olive oil and drizzle atop dough. Combine cheese and herbs to sprinkle across dough. Cover dough.

Preheat your oven to 375 degrees. While oven is warming, let the dough rise again for 15 minutes. Remove cover and place break in over for 30-35 minutes until you see it has turned a light brown color. Allow it to cool briefly and then slice for serving. Bread can be served plain or with a side of olive oil for dipping

FOCACCIA DIPPING SAUCE

When using olive oil for dipping, it is not the time to skimp on quality. Get the best available. If you have a bottle with a pouring spout, you can use it, otherwise pour directly from container. Do the same thing with some high quality balsamic vinegar.

Fresh ground salt and pepper are the best accompaniments for your dipping sauce. If you don’t have a grinder, go get one as nothing compares to the taste of fresh ground. Put a side plate at each setting. Pour out about 2 T of olive oil in the center of the plate and then add 1 T of the balsamic.

This is a traditional oil and vinegar combination. They will not integrate so trying to mix them is a waste of time. You can add salt and pepper to your taste. This is bread dipping at its best!

Focaccia Paste made from Artichokes

Focaccia Artichoke Paste

1 bay leaf
2 sprigs thyme
4 peppercorns
1 cup lemon juice
1/2 tsp. salt
8 artichoke bottoms, trimmed
1 cup pitted green olives (Sicilian)
extra-virgin olive oil
1 focaccia sliced into two inch squares (sixteen squares)

In a saucepan, mix the lemon juice, salt, thyme, peppercorns, and bay leaves with two cups of water and bring to a boil. Cover and allow to boil for 15 minutes. Add the artichokes and boil for about 5 minutes or until the artichokes are tender when pierced with a fork. Drain the mixture and allow to cool. Combine together the olives and artichokes and chop them together with a knife until you have a very fine paste. Now mix in the olive oil. The result will be a soft paste. Spread the paste onto the focaccia squares and sprinkle with salt. Serve immediately.
